Board Meeting, Tuesday July 12th at 6:30pm

As you may know, the state of Illinois passed a six-month stop-gap budget which includes $114 million for community colleges.  We now know that of that $114 million ECC is set to receive $2.15 million, which is $750k more than we expected (and well more than the $480k of layoffs that are scheduled).  However, the administration is continuing to press on with the layoffs despite the extra revenue and has not communicated with us whatsoever about the state budget, the plan for the extra revenue, or why they feel the need to continue the layoffs.  The only thing we do know is that layoffs are coming, and that the administration is not interested in sitting down to negotiate with us of the impacts of said layoffs.

The agenda of the next regular ECC board meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, July 12th at 6:30pm, includes discussion of the SSECCA  layoffs.  If you are at all concerned about what is happening or how things have been handled, please come and attend with us.
