Kishwaukee College Facing Additional Cuts

Kishwaukee College, one of our neighboring community colleges out near DeKalb, has hinted that further layoffs may be coming.  As reported at their May board meeting, not only is the school having to do without state funding, but they are also facing additional declines in revenue due to lower-than-expected enrollment and low sales at the local bookstore and cafeteria.  Kish was already forced to lay off 17% of its workforce earlier this year due to Illinois’s lack of a budget.  With the state governor and legislature still at impasse, Kishwaukee, like all state schools, is having to face some tough decisions when it comes to balancing their own budget for the next fiscal year.
